Located at the south end of the town of Colorado Springs, Fort Carson is a 138,000-acre military post that is recognized as one of the world's premiere locations to lead, train, and prepare soldiers. Many soldiers and their families choose to live in Fort Carson's surrounding neighborhoods found in adjoining areas include Fountain Valley, Widefield, Security, Stratmoor Hills, Stratmoor Valley and the Cheyenne Mountains District. There are no private residences on Fort Carson, only barracks and on-post housing. However, the Fort does have a very large commissary, large exchange, mall and four specialty shops. (more)
Recreation on the base includes bowling, an auto hobby club, an exercise gymnasium, tennis, swimming pools, fishing and horse stables. There is also an 18-hole golf course which utilizes GPS Systems on the golf carts and boasts a beautiful clubhouse. There are three elementary schools and one middle school on the post, run by the Fountain-Fort Carson School District. Additionally, Fort Carson has nearly 300 public, private, alternative and charter schools within driving distance.
Fort Carson's military family neighborhoods are safe, friendly and feature real estate market options for purchase of all shapes and sizes. Although Fort Carson is not an incorporated city, it is considered a part of El Paso County and is located in one of Colorado's most exciting regions.
